POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the 5-star hotel construction site by implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies. The role involves identifying potential hazards, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards, and promoting a culture of safety among workers and contractors.

 KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Implement safety programs and conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to HSE guidelines.
  2. Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation.
  3. Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification at different construction stages.
  4. Recommend and implement corrective actions to eliminate workplace hazards.
  5. Ensure fire safety measures and emergency response plans are in place.
  6. Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure safe work practices.
  7. Report safety violations and incidents to the project management team.
  8. Organize safety training sessions and toolbox talks for workers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  9. Educate construction workers on the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety protocols.
  10. Conduct safety drills and emergency response training.
  11. Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe incidents to determine root causes.
  12. Prepare incident and accident reports and recommend preventive measures.
  13. Ensure proper first-aid measures and emergency response procedures are followed.
  14. Ensure the availability and proper use of PPE on-site.
  15. Monitor the maintenance of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits.
  16. Coordinate with suppliers for safety equipment and material procurement.
  17. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to implement safety measures.
  18. Liaise with regulatory bodies for safety inspections and audits.
  19. Promote a strong safety culture among all employees and site workers.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION:
  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related field.
SKILLS/JOB SPECIFICATION:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in hotel, commercial, or high-rise building projects.
  • Knowledge of local and international safety regulations.
  • Experience in conducting safety training and audits.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulations and construction safety.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Detail-oriented with good report-writing skills.
