Upper Mugu Karnali Hydroelectric Project
Upper Mugu Karnali Hydroelectric Project (UMKHEP) promoted by Elevate Energy Pvt. Ltd, is a peaking run-of-river (PROR) hydropower project along the Mugu Karnali Khola in the Mugu district of Karnali Province with a substantial capacity of 306 MW. It boasts a daily peaking capacity of 6 hours. The headworks are situated at Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality ward #3 Pulu, and the powerhouse is located at Chhayanath Rara Municipality ward #12 Lumsa. The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has provided a technical assistance grant for the project’s engineering and environmental study.
The headworks is located at Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality ward no. 3 and powerhouse is located at Chhayanath Municipality ward no. 12, Mugu Nepal. Gamgadi Bazzar of Mugu district is the nearest city to the Project site.
